about

This music is inspired by nature and our connection to this earth and all living creatures. Dr Didge Dolphin and Juergen Taruna have combined their talents to mix domestic and wild animal sounds, with didgeridoo grooves, rhythmic percussion, dynamic guitar and multiple instruments to produce a funky, family friendly, grooving album of world music.
In gratitude to the traditional aboriginal way of imitating and embodying animals with dance and song at corroboree. In North East Arnhem Land, Australia there is a yearly corroboree called Garma held at Gulkula in early August. It is the dreaming of Ganbulapula - Spirit Man of the Didgeridoo. Here the clans gather and share manikay (song) and bunggle (dance) at the nightly corroboree, celebrating their connection to nature (country), their ancestors and each other.
The painting on the front cover of this cd is by Gayili Marika Yunupingu who paints this story.
We sang and danced all night and in the morning some choose to become animals, some became plants and trees, some became humans and some returned to the stars to hold the connection to the dreamtime. This album is symbolic of the journey to reconciliation of all living creatures. The domestic and farmyard animals want to be as funky as the wild animals so they come to a corroboree and dance all night to this great music celebrating the connection of all life. This story is reflective that we are all sovereign beings and have a part to play in the evolution of humanity and life on earth.
A big thank you to Djalu Gurruwiwi and family for adopting us into Yolngu culture. Dr Didge as Mutjalanydjal - dolphin, who leads the way and has fun along the journey. ShamanaTara as Lungurrma - north wind who carries the voices of the ancestors, whales and star beings.
On this cd Djalu talks about his connection to nature and the animal kingdom.
Music is the thread that connects us all, so enjoy these great tunes, think positive thoughts and put love into words and actions.
In gratitude, Dr Didge Dolphin and ShamanaTara
