about

The Whaledreamers band evolved from the Kim Kindersley movie Whaledreamers in 2008. Core members are Bunna Lawrie (Coloured Stone) guitar and vocals, Dr Didge Dolphin - didgeridoo and ShamanaTara - female vocals and bowls. Recent addition is Shelly Emia (Whaia Whaia) - female vocals and bowls. Inspired by the majestic whales and lead by Mirning Aboriginal Whalesong man Bunna Lawrie,
the Whaledreamers are a contemporary expression of indigenous whale chants and upbeat positive songs.
Pulsing didgeridoo, drum and bass mixed with guitars and vocals make a living celebration of modern grooves and ancient wisdom. The Whaledreamers have played at Woodford folk Festival, The Byron Bay Blues Festival, Arnhem Land Gurruwiling Eclipse Festival, Garma Festival, GovePeninsula Festival, Island Vibe, Didgeridoo Cultural Fest, and Rainbow Corroboree. The Whaledreamers facilitate an annual weeklong whalesong experiential with the humpback whales off the east coast of Australia. Being in tune with the song cycles of
whales helps us evolve our music and connection with nature. The whales provide inspiration for new songs and material and keep the band progressive. We have been joined by many great musicians over theyears and thank them all.
